They both have their charm. Honestly as a long-time lover of stuffed animals, I’ve found simpler is better. When shit starts getting complex, it starts feeling more like a figurine, which are also cool, but serve an entirely different purpose. With stuffed animals I just want a cat (or in this case scalemate) shaped ball of fluff I can hug.
